Facts about Dogs Nose - Boops and Bleps

A dog’s nose has two functions—smelling and breathing.

Your pup’s nose is a powerful device that guides him through his days in some pretty impressive ways. Dogs are natural masters of circular breathing. They keep air circulating all the time, without even working at it. When air enters a canine nose, a fold of tissue just inside splits the airflow into two streams. One flow is dedicated to smelling and the other is dedicated to respiration. Dogs have the ability to breathe in and out at the same time.

Dogs possess a sense of smell many times more sensitive than even the most advanced man-made instrument. It is between 10,000 to 100,000 times better than ours! While all dog breeds have an excellent sense of smell, dogs with short noses, such as bulldogs, have less space for scent-detecting cells than dogs with a longer snout. We humans breathe and smell through the same air passage in our noses. When dogs breathe, a fold of tissue separates the two functions of smelling and respiration.

Facts about Dogs Eyes - Boops and Bleps

A dog’s eye functions much the same as any mammalian eye. Dogs eyes contain a special membrane, called the tapetum lucidum, which allows them to see in the dark.

Their retinas have a lot of light-and-motion-sensitive cells, called rods. These distinguish light from shadow. And most importantly, dogs' eyes, like those of cats, some birds and fish, and nocturnal predator animals, have a mirror-like membrane called a tapetum lucidum at the rear of the eye.  The dog’s eye has a reflecting layer, called the tapetum lucidum, which intensifies available light, giving the dog an advantage during dusk or dawn, the prime time for hunting

Caring for a dog is a big responsibility, and dog ownership is not something to enter into lightly, so we provide you some dogs products for your four-legged best friend.
